I chose to help No Kid Hungry because I thought how unfair it must be for the children who stay hungry day and night, and then I thought how even a $1 donation can feed to least 10 kids. I chose to help by baking because it is one of my passions. This way I am having more than just fun, I am making someone smile. So, I hosted a bake sale at my Tae Kwon Do school. If a young girl like me can work on changing the world one kid at a time, imagine what all of us together can achieve.
This year, I decided to use my birthday to raise money for No Kid Hungry. I contacted my HR Manager and asked if we could hold a bake sale at work for my birthday. They thought it was a wonderful idea so off I went! I learned to ask like-minded people to help - ask bakers to bake and donate their best bakes - we bakers love to share our bakes! Start at the 6 week mark - be organized - and most of all have fun!
Michael may only be 13 but he’s already a whiz in the kitchen and a bona fide hunger hero. The aspiring baker completed his second bake sale this past September. And he’s already started his own baking business. Instead of dreams of getting rich, Michael’s desire is to give something back. Young heroes like Michael give us hope for the future. And he’s just getting started.
